Colm Campbell shot a second consecutive one under par 71 to jump from 6th to 1st after the second round of the EMC Lee Valley Senior Scratch Cup. Campbell was two over after 10 holes this afternoon but an eagle 3 on the 11th hole brought him back into the fray, and a birdie on the 15th saw him move into the red figures. Andrew McCormack is tied for the lead on two under, he added a level par 72 to his 70 from this morning to stay in pole position.
Morning leader Colin Woodroofe had a 75 this afternoon to drop to 5th, still just two shots off the lead. Robin Dawson and Jamie Fletcher both shot 70 this afternoon and both are ties on 143 just one shot away from Campbell and McCormack. Cillian Moloney added a 78 to his 70 from this morning, and he’s still in with a shout.
Jack Pierce, Gavin Smyth, Darragh Coughlan and Tiernan McLarnon are all within four shots of the lead. Locals Gary O’Flaherty, Mark Collins, Greg O’Mahony, John Hickey and James Sugrue are in the top 15 and will need a very good start tomorrow to overhaul the leaders. Dave O’Donovan could only better his opening 77 by two shots, he made the top 30 cut on the mark of 152. In total 31 golfers made it through to the final 18 holes which get underway at 8.20am tomorrow morning.
