Kinsale’s Gary Ward shook off the disappointment of the weekend and recorded the best 36 hole score at the qusalifying stage of the the Kerry Boys at Ballybunion.  Ward finished the 36 holes on +1 and he’ll face David O’Donoghue in the matchplay tomorrow.  Ward was joined in the top 16 by John Murphy, but holder
Cathal Butler was unable to defend his title due to injury.  Monkstown’s Shane Livesey and Sean Desmond are hitting form at the right time two.  They both qualified for the matchplay and they will more than likely feature on the Monkstown teamsheet on Saturday when they play in the Senior Cup Munster semi-final.  The other Cork golfers to qualify are Barry O’Sullivan Geany (Douglas), Conor Cremin (Kanturk) and David Howard (Fota Island).

There are seven Cork golfers involved in the Plate competition they include: Brian Barry (Douglas), Luc Doyle (Charleville), Jonathan O’Brien (Charleville), Con O’Callaghan (Kanturk), Darren Hourihan (Douglas), Hugh Woulfe (Blarney) and Conor Slevin (Charleville).
