Successful finish for Turner on Asian Tour

Niall Turner3Niall Turner completed his first year back on the Asian Tour with a top five finish at the season ending Phillipine Open.  After two years on the Asian Development Tour, Turner earned a full card by finishing third in the Order of Merit last year.  Turner had already secured a full tour card for next year, but he went on to card three rounds in the 60’s for a high placed finish in the rain shortened event.

The Ballincollig native was in seventh place going into the final round and opened brightly with a birdie on the first hole.  He gave the shot back on the second though when he bogied the hole for the third consecutive day.  That proved to be his only error as he added three further birdies to sign for a three under par 69.

Unfortunately for Turner the purse in the Phillipine’s was on $300,000 so his win was worth just under $9,000.  This was Turner’s send top five finish, the last time in Macau he won €41,000.  Now in his fifth season in Asia, Turner has had his most successful season, and he won over $70,000 in the ten tournaments in which he played.  Turner’s first half of the season was affected by injury but he countered that with a strong finish.
