East Cork held their annual Senior Scratch Cup on Saturday and the winner was David Connolly from the home club.  The popular winner went around in level par 69 to win the title by a single stroke.  The winner started poorly and turned on three over, but birdies on 10, 11, 16 and 17 put him back in the hunt.  An all-important par putt on the last was enough to give Connolly a one shot lead and the title. David is also the course record holder in East Cork having shot a seven under par 62 back in 2007.  Kinsale’s Cathal Butler was second with a 70 and Cork’s Sean McSweeney also shot 70 for third place.  Doneraile’s John Hickey was fourth with a 72.  Continue reading →
