South of Ireland Changes
The South of Ireland will be played in a new format in 2015, a 36 hole strokeplay qualifier has been introduced over the opening two days of the competition. The top 64 will then progress to the matchplay stages. Munster Branch Rules Roadshow
The Munster Branch Rules Roadshow will be available again in 2015 to visit clubs commencing on the 2nd week of January 2015.
Preferred nights are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and the presentation lasts for approx 2 hours. All club members (GUI & ILGU) are welcome to attend these sessions. Early booking is essential as the show has been extremely popular with clubs over the past two years. Space is needed to lay out the floor show with room for participants seated around the show.

Gorey wins in Castletroy, Updated GUI Order of Merit
Niall Gorey went one better this week and took the winners spot in Castletroy. After a mixed start to the season the Kildare native took second place in Ballybunion last week and signalled a return to form. He posted two 71’s to finish two under par and five shots clear of the field. Muskerry’s Sean Barry took third spot and Cork’s John Hickey took the gross prize for the 2nd round. Continue reading

O’Flaherty wins in Ballybunion

Cork’s Gary O’Flaherty won the Ballybunion Senior Scratch Cup on Saturday, beating a strong field in windy conditions at the famous Kerry course. O’Flaherty has been in fine form over the past three months, he recorded top three finishes in Cork, Lee Valley, Muskerry and Douglas but the win had eluded him until last weekend.
