Pro Shop Challenge Cheques Presented

The proceeds from the 2023 Pro Shop Challenge were recently presented to the beneficiaries, with two local Cork charities benefiting from over €20,000 each.  Cork ARC and Breakthrough Cancer Research were both selected as the charities that would benefit from the event, and both have strong links to the core of the event which was held in memory of Darragh Ryan.  Darragh was involved in the original Kinsale Pro Shop Challenge when he was raising funds for Special Olympics.  Sadly Darragh passed away in late 2022 after a battle with cancer.  Darragh’s uncle, Ian Stafford set about creating a special Pro Shop Challenge for 2023.  Firstly he managed to sign up Irish International Rory Best along with Kinsale tour Continue reading

ProShop Challenge raises €30k

Kinsale’s Pro Shop Challenge takes place today, and the even has raised almost €30,000 for two Cork charities.  A large crowd is expected in Kinsale this afternoon for the skins match that will see John Murphy and Rory Best take on Kinsale PGA Professionals Ger Broderick and Ian Stafford.

Kinsale’s ProShop Challenge Returns

Kinsale’s ProShop Challenge returns in August and the fourball challenge will have a new golfer, former Irish Rugby hooker and captain Rory Best.  The Ulster man is a brand ambassador for Arachas Insurance, and he will team up with Arachas backed golfer John Murphy to take on Ger Broderick and Ian Stafford.  This will be the fifth staging of the event with started in 2016, and the event makes a welcome return after missing 2020 due to covid.  John Murphy has been on the challenger team each of the four years, his tour schedule in 2021 and 2022 made it difficult to get a date, but the 2023 event is now scheduled for Thursday 10th August.

Kinsale Celebrate ahead of Walker Cup Weekend

Excitement is building in Kinsale as the golf club and the community look forward to watching John Murphy compete in the Walker Cup this weekend.  Murphy will become just the fifth Cork golfer to take part in the Walker Cup after the Kentucky based golfer was selected on the team last month.  Although many would have liked to travel to Seminole in Florida, not even his family or his coach were able to travel.  That didn’t stop the Officers of Kinsale Golf Club from celebrating closer to home.  The club unveiled a Walker Cup flag last Sunday, a nice gesture to connect the members with their star player in Florida.  Watch by John’s parents Owen and Carmel, his sister Faye raised the flag in front of the clubhouse, and next week the Walker Cup pin flags will feature on Continue reading
