Kanturk’s Conor Og Madigan won the Limerick Boys Championship in Newcastlewest this afternoon after a win on the 18th hole over Darragh Carmody from Tralee.  Madigan had on impresssive run during the competition, in addition to Carmody he beat Fota’s Cillian Moloney in the semi-final.  It was almost an all Kanturk final as Con O’Callaghan narrowly lost out to Carmody in the semi-final.

Muskerry’s Egan wins Munster Boys Under 14 Championship

Munster Boys Under 14 Open Championship 2015Muskerry’s Jack Egan won the Munster Boys Under 14 Championship today at East Cork Golf Club.  Egan shot the low round of the day and his one over par 70 beat the runner up by three shots.  The young Muskerry man had a very steady  front nine, with a bogey on the third hole the only blemish.  He birdied the tricky par three 16th to get back to level par but gave the shot back on the following hole.  He parred the 18th to sign for a 70, four shots better that his handicap of five.  Second place went to Scott Millar who travelled from Clandeboye and the Castle Dargan Continue reading

After a long summer of good golf, Kinsale’s John Murphy finally bagged a big win when he won the Kerry Boy’s Championship at Ballybunion.  It was a great week to be in Ballybunion, the sun was out all week and the Cashen course was in great condition.  Murphy made it through to the final day but faced an in-form Sean Desmond in the semi-final.  Although Desmond must have had a Munster semi-final in the AIG Senior Cup in the back of his mind, he proved to be a tough opponent and he took Murphy to the the 17th Continue reading

There’s still plenty of Cork interest in the Kerry Boys at Ballybunion with three of the four semi-finalists coming from Cork.  Sean Desmond (Monkstown) had a 5&4 win this morning and this afternoon he beat Kinsale’s Gary Ward on the 20th after a tough battle.  Desmond will face John Murphy (Kinsale) in the semi-final, Murphy finished off his first round match on the 13th green this morning and he won on the 15th this afternoon.  Muskerry’s James O’Connor is also through to the semi-finals, he beat Fota’s David Howard this morning and beat a fancied Rory Hill (Tralee) Continue reading

Kinsale’s Gary Ward shook off the disappointment of the weekend and recorded the best 36 hole score at the qusalifying stage of the the Kerry Boys at Ballybunion.  Ward finished the 36 holes on +1 and he’ll face David O’Donoghue in the matchplay tomorrow.  Ward was joined in the top 16 by John Murphy, but holder

O’Sullivan leads Mallow to Fred Daly Win

13 year old Daniel O’Sullivan was the hero for Mallow as his win on the 18th sealed a 4-3 win for Mallow against Kinsale in the Fred Daly Trophy final.  The final was a titanic affair with one match going to the 21st and another going to the 20th.  Kinsale got early wins from James Bohan and Mark Healy and Mallow got an early point from Eoin Ahern.
