East Cork Ladies had three great wins in Limerick last weekend and in doing so they won three Munster pennants and booked their places in the All Ireland Finals. The Junior Foursomes team were first out on Friday afternoon and they had a good win over Ross with Mary B Walsh & Breda McCarthy and Caroline O’Connor and Mary Morrison winning their matches, while Sel O’Leary & Eileen Dorgan’s match was called in. East Cork beak Cobh hearts

East Cork broke Cobh hearts again last weekend as they progressed from the Pierce Purcell qualifiers at Mahon. On Saturday they accounted for hosts Mahon and on Sunday morning they beat Monkstown. On the other side of the draw Cobh beat Castlemartyr, Fermoy and Mallow to advance to the venue final. It was the same match up as the Bruen qualifier two weeks ago but Cobh started brightly and held the advantage through most of the afternoon. Continue reading

Cobh and Kinsale played host to the Jimmy Bruen Shield area matches over the weekend as the AIG Cups and Shields got underway. The wind blew hard on Saturday and the elevated nature of both courses tested all players. The conditions were not ideal but it provided all teams with a requirement to think their way around the course. Although conditions were a bit better on Sunday, the weather helped to set the scene for classic matchplay, whoever made the least errors would progress. Continue reading
