Monkstown’s Cian McNamara shot an impressive 68 in Adare on Monday to win the Munster PGA winter series event. This was just the second event to take place in the series, no less than three scheduled events were cancelled due to the weather before Christmas. McNamara had a strong finish to the season in 2015 and he’s started 2016 in sparkling form. Although he dropped a shot early on thanks to a three putt on the 4th, he regained a stroke on the index one 5th hole. He went on to birdie the 8th, 10th, 15th and 16th to sign for a four under par 68. The Limerick native has been working hard over the winter season, along with coach Eddie Doyle, he’s also been working with Peter O’Keeffe’s TPI Golf Fitness based
Wayne explained how he’s planning to run the clinics: “First of all the clinic involves putter fitting, checking if the the length and loft of the putter suits a student – using the academy’s quinticballroll software. It will also cover green reading which covers the grain on greens, moisture and how they can affect break and pace. A number of training aids will be used to tighten up the length and stroke path. Finally drills on getting long putts closer to the hole on a regular basis and short putting drills and data on tour pros shared.” Details of the dates and times of all the classes are available from

PGA Professional Jamie O’Sullivan got an early Christmas present when he won the race to become the new head professional at Rosslare Golf Club. The former Cork Golf Club player is currently director of Golf in Charleville, having spent the past eight years in the 27 hole North Cork club. O’Sullivan, son of European Seniors Tour star Denis, qualified as a PGA professional in 2002 and has spent over a decade progressing his career at several top courses. Jamie qualified in Portmarnock and after that spent two years in Ballybunion. He followed that with a three years in Fota Island and was there for the launch of the Fota Island Academy in 2006. Following that he moved to Charleville to fill the position vacated by David Keating. Charleville became the new home for the Glanmire native and he’s on the move again, this time to the famous Wexford links course. “Rosslare is a fantastic opportunity for me and a natural progression to the next step in my career” said O’Sullivan who’s heading into his second stint as a head professional, “It is a beautiful traditional links resort with lots of local and seasonal members.
