Kinsale’s John Murrphy had an eventful final day at the Leinster Youths in Charlesland.  Murphy was only three shots off the lead at the halfway point last evening, but he dropped eight shots in four holes on the front nine this morning,  That included two bogies, a dougle bogey and a quadruple bogey 9 at the par five 5th hole.  Murphy followed up with two birdies but he gave back another three shots with a triple bogey on the 16th.  He signed for an 85 but credit to the young Kinsale golfer he bounced back in the afternoon with a two over par 74.  The score this morning wasn’t out of the ordinary as the entire field struggled with the wind, the CSS for the third round was 75 R/O.  His recovery in the afternoon secured a top ten finish and he also took the Medal for the top Under 18.

Murphy will need to focus again as he joins the Kinsale Fred Daly team in the area-final against Fota Island on Friday.  Both Kinsale and Fota had impressive wins in their respective semi-finals, so it should make for an exciting match in Castlemartyr on Friday.
