It might not have been to final round she wanted, but Sara Byrne can look backat a job well done at the Aramco Korea Championship. The Dromoland Castle touring proessional kept her place in the top 60 on the order of merit, and also took home €15,900 in prize money.
Byrne edged her way up the leaderboard over the first three days. She opened with a level par 72 on Thursday but followed that with rounds of 69 and 68 to go into the final round in a tie for 13th place.
Sara ended up with a one over par 73 on the final day with three birdies and five bogeys. She hit just 11 of the 18 greens and while her putting stats were good, the missed greens saw her record the lowest number of birdies for the week.
It was a long trip from Cork to Korea for Byrne, but the $2m dollar purse meant that she picked up nearly €16,000 for her 30th place finish. The enhanced purse meant that her prize money was four times higher than a regular european event for a similar finishing spot.
Sara now has a week off before heading to India for the Hero Indian Women’s Open in DLF Golf & Country Club. After that there are two more regular season events in China before the season ending event in Spain at the end of November. Sara will be hoping to stay inside the top 64 on the order of merit to qualify for Spain.
