Butler 4th in Munster Boy’s – Final Round Report
Kinsale’s Cathal Butler carded a one under par 71 in the final round of the Munster Boy;s Open Championship at Mallow Golf Club. Although tied for second place, five behind winner William Small, Butler’s official finishing place was 4th on the countback. Munster Boys Team Announced
The long wait is over and the names of th seven strong Munster Boys Inter-Provincial team has been announced.
As expected Kinsale feature strongly with Cathal Butler, John Murphy and Mark Healy all getting the call-up. Anyone from Kinsale could have argued for one or even two more inclusions but the selectors went with the three. Monkstown’s Sean Desmond is the fourth Cork member of the team that will take part in the Inter-Provincial Championships next week in Athlone Golf Club.

Butler Shoots -3 Par 69 for 6th Place in Connacht Boys
Kinsale’s Cathal shot the low round of the day to climb the leaderboard in the Connacht Boys Amateur Open in Roscommon. Butler carded a three under par 69 which included
six birdies. He finished in 6th place on +3 for his three rounds.

Murphy Goes Low for 4th Place Finish in Irish Boys Open
Kinsale’s John Murphy went low on the final day of the Irish Boys Open in Tuam, and doing so rocketed up the leaderboard to 4th place. Murphy had a poor finish on Thursday, after starting well he dropped five shots on the back nine. There were no such mistakes on Friday, he was the only golfer to beak 70 as he recorded five birdies and two bogies for a closing 69. Murphy won recently won the Under 18 Medal at the Leinster Youths has shown great form at inter-club level and will no doubt be looking forward to the Munster Boys Open Championship in Mallow in two weeks.
