Cork Golf Centre
Although it’s only open since April last year, Cork Golf Centre has quickly become a firm favourite for golfers on the western side of the city and beyond. With a reduction in the number of public range facilities, Cork Golf Centre was ideally positioned to fill a gap in the market for both casual and serious golfers. Located just beyond the regional park in Ballincollig, there’s a very large catchment area including several clubs. “The centre has had a very busy first year and it continues to grow” explained resident PGA Professional Wayne O’Callaghan. “The quality of the range matts and high-quality Srixon golf balls have been a major factor in the growth of the centre. We have held beginner’s classes with myself and Liam Burns, in addition to the individual lessons and the junior academy. We have dedicated fitness classes in the specialised golf gym with Francis Courtney, and physical therapist Peter Maher also operates a clinic in the centre.”

The centre has major plans for 2018 as we move into phase two of our development. We are adding a second private teaching studio along with a short game area including a bunker area with putting greens. There will be more distance markers added to the short game area making it the ideal place to work on your distance control.” The developments don’t stop there, a new all-weather synthetic putting green will be installed outside the front door, giving range customers a great opportunity to practice their putting in addition to the long game. A new raised putting studio is current under construction in one of the teaching studios and this will be the permanent base for the Capto putting analysis as well as the putter fitting centre. The centre currently offers custom fitting facilities for Lynx and the range will be expanded further this year. The range is open from 11am to 10pm Monday to Friday and 11am to 9pm on weekends.
