Fermoy set for John Whyte Memorial

Fermoy golf club will host their annual senior scratch cup on Sunday, the John Whyte memorial. The event has been a popular fixture on the calendar for many years, with a some famous winners. 2019 Amateur Champion James Sugrue won the event in 2016 and 2018. 

The contenders for the 2020 event include John O’Brien, Ronan Twomey, Seamus Stack and Colm O’Donoghue. Local favourite Dean O’Riordan will be hoping to go one better this year after losing out to Muskerry’s David Lane last year. Cillian Twomey, Olan Barrett and Kevin Collins are also among the local hopes.

Anyone hoping to win will need to get into the red numbers, a score of 68 or 69 is generally there or thereabouts in terms of leading the field.  The handicap limit is 6, and there are a number of gross and nett prizes on offer.  Anyone interested in playing can book through www.fermoygolfclub.ie or by calling the club on 025 31472.
