Marymount Benefits from Fota Ladies

Sean Desmond in Top 10 at Irish Boys

Monkstown’s Sean Desmond shot a one under par 71 in the second round of the Irish Boys to climb into the top 10.  Tuam Golf Club is the venue for the 72 hole competition and Desmond carded five birdies in his round today.  He was three under through the 13th hole but he gave back two shots with bogeys on the 14th and 15th.  A 36 hole total of 145 (+1) see’s the Monkstown golfer in a tie for 7th place. Fota Beat Mahon in Fred Daly Trophy

There was great excitement in Douglas on Sunday evening as Fota Island overcame Mahon in an exciting Fred Daly Trophy quarter-final match.  The match was a repeat of last year’s competition when Mahon came out on top.  The course in Douglas was in great condition for the match although heavy rain and strong winds during the first hour of play hampered the golfers.  Heading into the back nine the match was very balanced with neither side having a strong advantage in any of the seven matches.
