Yet again Cork golfers have been pipped at the post while looking for the next big win of the season.

The Munster Boys Under 16 Amateur Open took place at Clonmel Golf Club today and Mallow’s Ed Walsh was looking good for the win when he posted a four under par total of 67.  On the front nine Walsh birdied the 1st and 9th to turn on two under.  He added birdies on the 10th & 11th holes and parred the final seven holes to sign for an impressive 67.  While Walsh must have been happy with his round, Spain’s Eduard Rousaud was busy tearing up the course record on his way to a seven under par 64.

In a field of 150 young golfers, Blarney’s Jonathan Scannell won the nett category with a 66. He beat Bandon’s Ross Higgins on the countback.
